Hampi — 2 Nights 3 Days Itinerary from Bangalore
Depart from Bangalore on 25th February and explore the ancient ruins of Hampi — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This 2-night, 3-day journey covers the most iconic temples, boulder landscapes, and riverside ghats.
Day 1 — 25 Feb | Bangalore to Hampi (Overnight Journey)
Evening (6:00 PM): Depart from Bangalore by overnight bus or train to Hospet/Hampi. Recommended: KSRTC Airavat bus from Majestic Bus Stand or a private sleeper bus. Travel time: approximately 8–9 hours.
Overnight: Travel in bus/train to Hampi.
Day 2 — 26 Feb | Exploring Hampi
Morning (6:00 AM): Arrive at Hospet bus stand. Check in to hotel/guesthouse near Hampi Bazaar. Freshen up and have breakfast at a local cafe.
Mid-Morning (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM): Visit the Sacred Centre. Virupaksha Temple — the oldest and most important temple in Hampi, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Hemakuta Hill — cluster of early Shaiva temples with panoramic views. Matanga Hill — sunrise viewpoint (arrive early), great boulder climbing. Krishna Temple — beautiful 16th-century temple complex.
Afternoon (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM): Lunch break at local Hampi restaurants. Try traditional South Indian thali or banana leaf meals. Rest and recharge at your stay.
Late Afternoon (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM): Royal Enclosure — ancient palace complex with audience halls and elephant stables. Lotus Mahal — an exquisite Indo-Islamic pavilion in the Zenana Enclosure. Elephant Stables — grand arched stables for the royal elephants. Hazara Rama Temple — notable for intricate bas-relief carvings depicting the Ramayana.
Evening (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM): Sunset at Tungabhadra Riverbank. Watch sunset at Hampi Ghat — a magical experience by the Tungabhadra River. Coracle ride across the river to Virupapur Gadde (Hippie Island). Dinner at a riverside restaurant on Hippie Island. Night: Return to hotel and overnight stay in Hampi.
Day 3 — 27 Feb | More Hampi & Return to Bangalore
Morning (6:00 AM – 9:00 AM): Early morning at Sule Bazaar — an ancient ruined market street. Visit the beautiful Achyutaraya Temple with its intricate carvings and stepwell complex. Sunrise at Matanga Hill for golden hour photography.
Mid-Morning (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Visit Vittala Temple Complex — the most spectacular site in Hampi. Famous for the Stone Chariot and the Musical Pillars that produce musical sounds when tapped. A UNESCO-listed masterpiece of Vijayanagara architecture.
Afternoon (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Lunch at Mango Tree Restaurant or Laughing Buddha near the riverbank. Checkout from hotel and pack your bags.
Evening (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM): Head to Hospet Bus Stand or Hampi Station to board the return overnight bus/train to Bangalore. Arrive Bangalore next morning by 6:00 AM.
